You have made it to the 'Sign of the Pukeko'. Awesome!
We started out some time back in 2016 with 4x fence lines, a gate...of sorts, and anything from 2 to 50 Pukeko... and plenty of Pukeko 'sign'.
This is a glimpse of how it looked in the beginning...

The Pukeko are well under control since the installation of border force security, in the form of Border Collies! That's where Pip and Jet come in. Working as a team, they form an integral part of our Defensive Network System (DNS).
Go on Pukeko, how fast can you flap from paddock to gate? More like paddock to dog plate. Dare ya!
Actually, I saw a great recipe for Pukeko burgers just this week. I might throw in a link to the recipe when I can.
Anyway, you are now wondering what 'this' is all about? Well, family and friends often ask "do you have a channel or blog? You should post this lifestyle stuff, it's a laugh!" I'm not big on posting 'stuff' but thought why not share a little about the land, the livestock and the journey.
So... life on a lifestyle block (or life sentence block), that's what it's about. An insight into some of the 'stuff' that goes on including the good and the not so good, the happy and the sad, the smelly 'stuff', the tasty stuff and the bestest stuff ever, like rolling in duck shite poo...the dogs that is, not the humans. It's the stuff we knew, thought we knew, and the stuff we had no flipping clue. Through trial and error...we still have a lot to learn.
Most days, it's pretty good, other than when your neighbor lights their burn pile with the wind pointing at your place yet again... and you have just put your washing out! It's also not too great when burying your dead... livestock that is, not people.
And here in lies a significant point/lesson. If you can't handle blood, guts and the dead, or can't yourself put an animal out of its immediate suffering, and that's not getting someone in to do the job for you; move on, walk away... this 'lifestyle' is not for you, actual. Or just grow grass and plant trees, however that's a lot of lawn mowing!
Putting that aside, waking with bird sounds, green pastures, and mountain views... Awesome! Yup, on a clear night or early morning if the timing is right, we can see headlights from groomers on the Virgin Mile at Mt Hutt. Crazy huh... Note to any new neighbors, don't plant out and block our views!
At this time, there is no way to leave a comment or ask us questions. I did have a contact form available for a brief time, but constant requests from a random guy based in Ru$$!a for bitcoin in exchange for the return of my 'most secret data and personal intimate videos' became a little tedious. I'll work on that in due course... the contact form that is, not paying the bitcoin.
Anywhoo...... that's all for now folks.
Enjoy!
